Oak Ridge Care Center is proud to assist our team members who are continuing their education! We currently have two staff members who are in nursing school and are now able to work as student nurses. These ladies are Stephanie and Faith.

Stephanie is attending school at Bryant and Stratton, and she is excited to begin her final semester before becoming an LPN. Stephanie is enjoying working as a student nurse at Oak Ridge Care Center, and she said that she feels she is moving onto her next chapter in her nursing career. Previously, Stephanie was working at the Racine Unified School District until she realized her desire to care for the elderly. While caring for her grandma, Stephanie fell in love with nursing and taking care of others. Stephanie said that Oak Ridge Care Center has been a great place to develop her nursing skills because the team is amazing, it is clean and friendly, and she enjoys being here. Stephanie commented that she wants to continue learning new things, and she plans to further pursue her education with her RN and BSN in the future. Outside of school and work, Stephanie enjoys riding motorcycles, spending time with her six grandchildren, and enjoying the beer gardens. When reflecting on her journey thus far, Stephanie shares advice to “never give up and don’t second guess yourself.” We are so proud to support Stephanie and cheer her on as she becomes an LPN and continues to accomplish amazing things!

Faith is attending school at Gateway and is projected to graduate and become an LPN by the end of 2025. Faith states that she enjoys working both as a CNA and as a student nurse – as long as she’s able to spend quality time with the residents! Faith is excited to be able to contribute as a student nurse now. Faith reports that her passion to help people initiated her interest in nursing. She recalls visiting her grandma years ago while her grandma resided at Oak Ridge Care Center. Faith remembers visiting her grandma often and now wants to help other individuals loved ones. Faith said that learning new skills has been a good experience at Oak Ridge, as “everyone is helpful, and I can always ask a question.” Faith looks forward to gaining more experience, confidence in her nursing skills, and to obtain her RN license in the future and specialize is post-partum care. When Faith isn’t working or studying, she enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time with her dog, Mika. Faith provided a thoughtful reminder that “everyone has a different pace, so don’t stop if you feel like you’re behind; stay determined.” We are encouraged by Faith’s energy and persistence in her journey, and we can’t wait to see all of the incredible things she will achieve!
